Our Approach

1. Research led approach

India is geographically diverse and often the animal nutrition consists of locally available agriculture wastes, hay and oil cakes / silage or  pelleted feeds and maybe mineral mixtures . So, a cow in South India has different requirements than a cow in North or West India. Therefore, in every new geographical area we enter, we do proper research on what is fed, how it is fed, what are the limiting nutrients absent in general. We also study the blood profiles of animals to understand their health needs better as even appropriate nutrition may not build immunity but just suffice hunger especially if it's more of brans or hay. Using this we propose the right product in our portfolio for sales and customize for particular requirements of the milk industry- Example if a milk brand wants to resource milk to be used for baby food, it has certain nutrition and milk quality criterias which can be achieved by offering specialised products from our range. We begin work with a targeted approach partnering with dairy co-operatives or Farmer Producer Organisations/ Agri input aggregators  addressing their issues by carrying out research, followed by offering them a solution rather than mere product.

2. Capacity building of farmers

After research, one of the key aspects that sets up apart from everyone else in the industry is the capacity building approach.

Dairy /Goat farmers lack awareness of animal rearing economics, farm management practices or an organised approach to dairying/goat rearing.

Occamy invests largely into building the capacity of farmers by making animal husbandry science simple for them in a colloquial manner , giving insights into farm management tips and guidance on economics of animal rearing,  how to reduce losses or simply lessons on important aspects like reading product labels/ claims. These interactions are either conducted as farmer engagement camps , through village level plays or social media content.

4. Corporate social responsibiltiy

We work with CSR initiatives of various multinational companies that work in dairy and goat space promoting livelihood generation via animal husbandry or those educating farmers on better practices, innovation and sustainable practices or  with initiatives that work towards Climate and Circular economy.

5. Protecting the sacred cows - Gaushala model

In India, the indigenous cows are considered sacred and loving called Gaumata (mother/Cow goddess) and worshiped religiously. We work with a lot of Gaushalas - institutions who shelter milking cows or cows that are old, non milking or stray .

These Gaushalas often run on donations or limited expenses but in any case, nutrition is a concern. Occamy’s products help to keep the animal health intact even in a financial crunch offering maximum nutrition in a minimal dose or reducing expenses of medicines for any Gaushala.

Occamy’s products can be considered as donations for the Gaushala and this would be “Gauseva” in real sense.  We too donate our products as much as possible thereby lending a hand for the betterment of the sacred Gaumata. Donors who contribute for Gaushala welfare may connect with us for more details and support us in this journey .
